8th kyu More than 20 hours practice after starting
  • unsoku

7th kyu More than 20 hours practice after 8th kyu
  • tegatana dosa
  • zenpo kaiten ukemi (on one knee)
  • gyakugamae katate dori – aigamae ate, hiki taoshi, tenkai kote hineri

6th kyu More than 20 hours practice after 7th kyu
  • zenpo kaiten ukemi (standing)
  • koho ryote dori – gyakugamae ate
  • aigamae katate dori – waki gatame
  • hanza handachi gyakugamae katate dori – tenkai kote gaeshi

5th kyu More than 40 hours practice after 6th kyu
  • suwari waza shomen uchi – oshi taoshi osae
  • kihon waza atemi waza (shomen ate, aigamae ate, gyakugamae ate, gedan ate, ushiro ate)
  • kihon no tsukuri atemi waza, hontai no tsukuri (shomen ate, aigamae ate)
  • kansetsu waza tegatana jodan no tsukuri (oshi taoshi, hiki taoshi)

4th kyu More than 40 hours practice after 5th kyu
  • suwari waza shomen uchi – oshi taoshi gyakute dori kote hineri osae
  • kihon waza hiji waza (oshi taoshi, ude gaeshi, waki gatame, hiki taoshi, ude hineri, waki gatame)
  • kihon no tsukuri atemi waza, hontai no tsukuri (gyakugamae ate, gedan ate, ushiro ate)
  • kansetsu waza tegatana gedan no tsukuri (kote gaeshi, tenkai kote gaeshi)

3rd kyu More than 40 hours practice after 4th kyu
  • suwari waza shomen uchi – oshi taoshi junte dori kote hineri osae
  • kihon waza tekubi waza (kote hineri, kote gaeshi, tenkai kote hineri, tenkai kote gaeshi)
  • nage waza nage no kata omote waza
  • kihon no tsukuri atemi waza, hontai no tsukuri
  • kansetsu waza nigiri gaeshi jodan no tsukuri

2nd kyu More than 60 hours practice after 3rd kyu
  • suwari waza shomen uchi – oshi taoshi tekubi osae
  • kihon waza uki waza (mae otoshi, sumi otoshi, hiki otoshi)
  • nage waza nage no kata ura waza
  • kihon no tsukuri atemi waza, shoki no tsukuri (shomen ate, aigamae ate)
  • kansetsu waza nigiri gaeshi gedan no tsukuri

1st kyu More than 60 hours practice after 2nd kyu
  • kihon waza randori kihon waza (uke without tanto)
  • kihon ura waza atemi waza no ura (waki gatame, oshi taoshi, gedan ate, aigamae ate, tenkai kote hineri)
  • kansetsu waza no ura (oshi taoshi, tenkai kote hineri, kote gaeshi, waki gatame, tenkai kote gaeshi)
  • kihon no tsukuri
  • atemi waza, shoki no tsukuri (gyakugamae ate, gedan ate, ushiro ate)
  • kansetsu waza hiji mochi no tsukuri – jodan (junte dori, gyakute dori) gedan (junte dori, gyakute dori)
  • randori ho tai sabaki (against tanto) – without hands- using tegatana
  • Kihon no tsukuri must be done twice on both left and right sides.
  • The second time the technique must be completed without stopping.

Dan grades
  • 1st dan more than 100 hours practice after 1st kyu
  • koryu goshin no kata (suwari waza, hanzahandachi waza, tachi waza)
  • randori kihon waza (against a tanto)
  • tanto kaeshi waza (10 techniques)
  • tanto kakarigeiko and tanto hikitategeiko
  • (women and elderly people may be tori only, everyone else to do 2 minutes changing the tanto after 1 minute)

2nd dan more than 200 days practice after 1st dan
  • koryu goshin no kata (as for 1st dan plus tanto dori)
  • randori kihon waza (against a tanto)
  • tanto kaeshi waza (10 techniques)
  • tanto randori (3 x 2 minutes, changing the tanto after 1 minute each time)
  • women and elderly people may do the koryu nage no kata omote and ura (14 techniques)

3rd dan more than 250 days practice after 2nd dan
  • koryu goshin no kata (as for 2nd dan plus tachi dori, yari dori, yari, kumitachi)
  • randori kihon waza (against a tanto)
  • tanto randori (4 x 2 minutes, changing the tanto after 1 minute each time)
  • women and elderly people may do the koryu nage no kata as for 2nd dan plus 11 oyo waza (25 techniques)

4th dan more than 4 years continuous practice after 3rd dan
  • 8 techniques from tegatana no kuzushi
  • jodan no kuzushi (aigamae – ushiro ate, gyakugamae – ushiro ate)
  • chudan no kuzushi (aigamae – oshi taoshi, gyakugamae – hiki taoshi)
  • gedan no kuzushi (aigamae – kote gaeshi, gyakugamae – kote gaeshi)
  • koho no kuzushi (ryote – oshi taoshi, ryote – ushiro ate)
  • goshin ho, tekubi dori
  • aigamae katate dori – shomen ate, gedan ate
  • gyakugamae katate dori – shomen ate, aigamae ate, gyakugamae ate
  • goshin ho, datotsushu no waza (against strikes, punches and kicks)
  • shomen uchi – aigamae ate, oshi taoshi
  • yokomen uchi – aigamae ate, tenkai kote gaeshi
  • shomen tsuki – kote gaeshi
  • mae geri – shomen ate

5th dan more than 5 years continuous practice after 4th dan
